Introduction: The Art of Immersive Production

At Blonstein UK, we believe every event tells a story — one that resonates far beyond the walls of a venue or the duration of a show. For over 30 years, we’ve transformed ideas into immersive, multi-sensory experiences for some of the world’s most innovative fashion houses, artists, and cultural institutions.

Our productions have graced stages from London Fashion Week to Tate Britain, uniting art, architecture, and audience in a single, powerful narrative. What follows are three case studies that reveal how Blonstein brings creative visions to life — seamlessly, sustainably, and spectacularly.

Case Study 1: Roksanda at Tate Britain — Fashion as Architecture

When British designer Roksanda Ilincic approached Blonstein to produce her London Fashion Week show, the vision was bold: to merge fashion, architecture, and emotion inside one of Case Studies Blonstein most iconic spaces — Tate Britain.

The Brief

Roksanda wanted to create a dialogue between movement and stillness, echoing the sculptural shapes of her garments against the grandeur of the Tate’s neoclassical halls. The environment had to reflect her collection’s fluid silhouettes, while maintaining the gallery’s reverent atmosphere.

The Blonstein Approach

Blonstein’s creative production team began by designing a runway layout that curved organically through the space, replacing the traditional linear catwalk with a flowing route that mirrored the collection’s architectural forms.

Lighting was engineered to mimic the soft diffusion of morning light through stained glass, creating a sense of serenity and introspection. Our sound designers curated an original ambient score that moved in rhythm with the models’ pace, creating a hypnotic continuity throughout the show.

Behind the scenes, we managed complex logistics — protecting the heritage flooring, coordinating late-night access for installation, and ensuring all structures were non-invasive and reversible.

The Result

The event was widely praised by critics for its elegance and restraint. The Guardian called it “an exhibition as much as a fashion show.” Roksanda’s collection found its ideal frame — an immersive spatial experience where fashion became fine art.

Case Study 2: Mulberry — Reimagining British Heritage

Luxury fashion brand Mulberry sought to celebrate its 50th anniversary with a show that paid homage to British craft and innovation, while speaking to a new generation of global consumers.

Blonstein UK was commissioned to design and produce a live event that would reflect Mulberry’s timeless aesthetic through a modern, inclusive lens.

The Brief

To create a celebration of Mulberry’s legacy that was authentic, emotional, and contemporary. The brand wanted to connect tradition with innovation — honouring its roots while projecting a bold future vision.

The Blonstein Approach

Our team conceptualised a multi-room experience within a restored industrial venue in East London. Guests journeyed through five immersive environments, each inspired by a decade of Mulberry’s evolution.

The set design blended heritage materials — oak, brass, and leather — with digital projections and tactile installations that showcased craftsmanship at every stage of production.

We collaborated with local artisans, filmmakers, and musicians to curate a 360° narrative around Mulberry’s story, culminating in a live runway presentation surrounded by interactive brand archives.

Lighting, sound, and scent were used strategically to evoke emotion and nostalgia, transporting guests through the brand’s 50-year journey.

The Result

The event drew widespread acclaim from press and attendees alike, hailed as “a masterclass in heritage storytelling.” Mulberry’s message — modern British luxury built on authenticity — resonated powerfully.

For Blonstein, it was a testament to how experiential storytelling can humanise a legacy brand, transforming a milestone into a moment of cultural connection.

Case Study 3: Serpentine Summer Pavilion — The Intersection of Art and Experience

The Serpentine Pavilion is one of London’s most celebrated architectural commissions, inviting global architects to create temporary structures in Kensington Gardens. Blonstein was tasked with transforming the 2019 pavilion, designed by Japanese architect Junya Ishigami, into a live performance environment for an exclusive cultural event.

The Brief

To create an intimate, site-specific experience within the architectural installation — blending art, sound, and movement in harmony with the pavilion’s distinctive “floating stone roof” structure.

The Blonstein Approach

Blonstein’s team worked in close dialogue with the Serpentine curatorial team and Ishigami’s studio to develop a production design that respected the architecture’s fragility while enhancing its sensory presence.

We implemented a custom lighting grid concealed beneath the slate canopy, simulating natural dusk and moonlight transitions throughout the performance.

Sound was delivered via directional speakers embedded within the structure, creating a subtle, immersive audio field that enveloped the audience without overpowering the natural acoustics.

All technical elements — from power distribution to rigging — were carefully engineered to leave zero trace on the pavilion’s design.

The Result

The event became a benchmark for sustainable, site-sensitive production, drawing praise for its atmospheric subtlety and innovation. For Blonstein, it exemplified how creative production can become an act of preservation as well as transformation.

Sustainability at the Core of Creativity

Across every project, Blonstein integrates sustainability as a creative principle, not an afterthought. Our commitment includes:

  • Using modular set systems to minimise waste

  • Employing recycled and recyclable materials

  • Partnering with local suppliers to reduce transport impact

  • Repurposing scenic elements across multiple productions

For us, sustainability is not about compromise — it’s about innovation. By designing smarter, we create events that are both visually extraordinary and environmentally conscious.
