If the troubleshooter can’t fix your issue, or if you’d like to fix it yourself, see the next section. If Startup Repair detects any of these issues, it will attempt to fix them automatically. Running the /resetnavpane command removes all customizations to the navigation pane. To open Outlook in Safe Mode, follow the instructions below. As @ode2joy said, clearing out the user’s profile usually works, which is a more thorough procedure than just deleting .nst and .ost files. You can determine if it’s corrupted by creating a new profile and changing which profile is used when Outlook starts. The old version of Microsoft Outlook can crash sometimes due to bug issues. Updating your Outlook to the latest version can solve the issue as the latest version might be released with fixing those bugs. Add-ins improve your Outlook by providing more features and enhancements. But in some cases, it may interfere with normal functioning and may cause Outlook to crash/hang. To disable add-ins, follow the instructions below. If your Outlook crashes when opening or on startup or even if Outlook stucks at Processing, you can fix it by opening Outlook in Safe Mode.
There are also notes about legacy per-user auth being an issue, however we had two accounts left in per-user auth but none with the issue. If you think that it is patch related, roll back the patch and see if that fixes it for the end users. If it’s an RDS server and the cache is also on the server, if the server crashes, reboots abruptly, is full, there are many reasons. Instead of removing the profile, remove the OST file and let it recreate. Find solutions to common problems or get help from a support agent.
Remember that the backup file was the original corrupted file, and you may find that you cannot recover anything other than what was recovered in the Lost and Found folder. If you cannot import the Newname.pst file into Outlook, unfortunately you have lost all the information that is not in the Lost and Found folder. I have found that when this happens its due to the Account in windows needing to be updated. If you close outlook(make sure its not in the system tray) then click on start and type Domain, then find Access work or school. You should see the Microsoft account, click on it and disconnect it. If none of that worked, I’d restore the server from backup when it was working and see what happens moving forward. If both of those don’t fix it, I’d run a full maintence cycle on the server.
