CAT Exam Overview
CAT is one of the most sought MBA Entrance Exams in India conducted by one of the IIMs. The main purpose of conducting CAT is to provide a gateway to pursuing an MBA from India’s top colleges, which also include S.P Jain Institute of Management and Research and the Faculty of Management Studies. CAT study material 2024 is the common entrance test conducted by one of the IIMs rotationally. It is an all-India level exam for an MBA that takes place once a year in an online mode. CAT Exam Pattern
The aspirants should pass through the exam pattern for knowing the format of questions which will further help in the preparation. The exam pattern has three sections with a time duration of 40 minutes each. There are a total of 76 questions which are equivalent to 228 marks. The marks are given as follows for each of the sections, VARC, QA, and DILR respectively are 72, 66, and 60.
CAT Syllabus
The CAT Syllabus includes three portions of MCQ and Non-MCQ questions. Some of the important topics to be memorized for QA are arithmetic, geometry, number systems, algebra, modern math, and mensuration. For DILR, the main concepts include seat arrangement, team formation, clocks and calendars, Venn diagrams, and bar graphs. VARC section consists of para jumbles, long & short passages, and para-summary.
Marking Scheme
The paper carries +3 for correct answers and -1 against wrong answers. Questions based on Non-MCQ do not carry a marking of -1; besides, no marks will be deducted for unattempted questions. The paper on VARC has 19 MCQs, the QA has 15 MCQs, 5 Non-MCQ and, DILR comprises 14 MCQ and 8 Non-MCQ, totaling the marks to 66.
